NOISE IN ONTARIO
Getting
Started
If you are an industry located in Ontario, you likely require an
up to date Certificate of Approval for the operation of your facility.
This is an issue that affects almost every industrial sector.
To begin, follow the links to the Approvals Branch
of the Ministry of the Environment www.ene.gov.on.ca/envision/gp//4174e.pdf
where you will find everything you need to fill out an application
for a Certificate of Approval.
If noise is an issue, give us a call. We’ll
be happy to lead you through the process. If an acoustical audit
or acoustic assessment report (AAR) is required, HGC Engineering
will provide you with:
- a proposal outlining the scope of work required,
- a schedule for carrying out the major tasks
and
- the associated costs
within a few business days. Just send us some
basic information such as a site or roof plan.
We pride ourselves in providing service on time
and within budget.
Why
hire a noise specialist?
Ontario’s Ministry of the Environment (MOE) recognizes noise
and vibration as environmental pollutants in their own right, but
has bundled noise with air emissions under Section 9 of the Environmental
Protection Act and in applications for Certificates of Approval.
Many environmental engineering firms which specialize
in air emissions also offer to handle noise emissions, but when
serious noise concerns threaten, you require the problem solving
expertise of a true noise specialist in order to have the job done
right – the first time.
Our nationwide experience and extensive knowledge
of Canadian, provincial and international standards and procedures
ensures a practical solution to the challenges you face.
Typical
Certificate of Approval Noise Conditions
If you have obtained a Certificate with conditions like this,
- The Company shall ensure that the noise emissions
from the Facility comply with the limits set in publication NPC-205.
- The Company shall submit to the District Manager
and the Director by a date not exceeding three (3) months after
the date noted on this certificate, an Acoustic Assessment Report,
for approval by the Director.
- If the Acoustic Assessment Report does not
demonstrate compliance with applicable noise limits, the Company
shall submit to the District Manager and the Director a Noise
Abatement Action Plan for approval by the Director.
- The Company shall carry out Acoustic Audit
measurements of the Facility in accordance with procedures in
Publication NPC-103, and submit an Acoustic Audit Report, prepared
by an Independent Acoustical Consultant in accordance with Publication
NPC-233 to the District Manager and the Director.
Don’t hesitate to call. We'll sort it out!
